View Full Version : Gdkp 2nd April 15.00

27-03-2011, 01:10 PM
- T11 progress: 4/12 normal.

We have a GDKP channel set up: simply type /join GDKP. This channel tends to attract competent players and even entertains intelligent conversation/decent dungeon runs.

1 - Where can I find information on GDKP?

Elitist Jerks: GDKP (http://elitistjerks.com/f15/t77416-gdkp_run_discussion_spread_your_server/) is the de facto source of information on GDKP. Chances are any questions you have are in that thread, and the first post condenses all the interesting parts.

GDKP raids are done on 25-man to maintain higher competition for items, and thus larger pots. GDKP will also be running Baradin Hold throughout the expansion as battle times allow, so you can count on having a successful run for your character every week instead of having to risk a PuG.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regardless, or drop it in the GDKP channel.

How much should I bring to GDKP?

The more gold you are willing to spend the better. A good starting figure for a new joiner is ~20000g. This really isn't much of a concern as you will easily acquire this amount by reaching level 85 through normal means.

As you participate in GDKP you will accrue larger and larger sums of money, eventually far surpassing that which a new character can bring. Note that all I am interested in is how much gold you're willing to spend on items, not what you possess in total.

How much do items cost?

It depends on the item, and the competition for it on that run. Generally speaking though you can expect to grab some gear for anywhere between 5-10k, while the very nice items go for much, much higher than that.

In the past we had a minimum bid and a raise, to speed things up and to avoid low pots. For the most part this is a formality as items don't go for minimum bids until just before the next tier of content comes out, but it'll still be there.

* All armor pieces will start at 2000g.
* All weapon slots (includes wands & relics) will start at 3000g.
* The minimum raise for items is 500g.

What gear level do I need?

In case you haven't noticed things have changed a bit. In order to join GDKP runs you *will* need to be prepared to raid. In other words we can't take your rich freshly dinged alt. We're not in ICC nor are we an organized guild group, so we can't afford under performing players. We also won't have carrying mains that aren't raiding due to the Cataclysm lockout system.

There will be zero tolerance in this regard for the first tier of content, and judging by the difficulty trend of raids probably the remainder of the expansion.

The minimum gear requirement is a heroic-level, raid-ready character. Your character sheet will read an average item level of 342 or higher. You might even have more than one epic item from reputations/archaeology/BoE already.

--- Higher priority on invites will be given to the most prepared characters. You have two weeks from the time of this post to be that person.

How well did you guys do in the past?

Well, at the end of WotLK GDKP we were among the best GDKPs worldwide in terms of progression, as well as pot sizes.

Icecrown progress: 10/12 on heroic.
Record pot: 341300 gold (13652g per person).
Record bid: 51000 gold (Dick-in-a-Box - Cchelios).

Additionally due to the overwhelming interest in the runs there was a second group on Saturdays, as well as another group on Sundays. Although as the expansion came to a close so did our runs I'd say we did pretty well. Even my most modest of noses cannot remain entirely untickled by the sweet smell of incense.

Okay! How do I sign up?

Reply to this thread with the following information:

1 - Character Name
2 - Class & Role. If you have a good secondary spec you are willing to play do add that as well.
3 - An armory link to your character.
4 - How much gold you are willing to spend, or specific items you are after if you've already acquired most of what you wanted.
