View Full Version : File Corruption Issue

01-04-2010, 12:03 PM

I'm having a problem on my eeePC and can't really figure it out.

Whenever I try to install anything (or even to update Norton AV), I get some message about the file being corrupt.

I even tried running them off a network share, downloaded on another PC, so I know the files are ok.

eg installing Winamp:
Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy.

or Norton gives a "CRC check failure" error when updating AV definitions.

I've run chkdsk and its found no errors.

I've reinstalled the OS from the rescue partition and I get the same problem.

Replace the drive?

Try plugging in a large-sized drive (i.e. 4gb flash, or 30gb portable drive) and installing something directly there - if it works, then its problem with your HD. if it doesnt, it also is probably problem with your HD.

So yeah, i think its problem with your HD.

Edit: if its (2), it means problem with system, i.e. HD/motherboard/etc. If its (1) its only HD probably. (im saying this since you said you tried reinstalling whole system, so this should have fixed Software issues).
