View Full Version : login screen & cpu

When I tried to login this afternoon I got stuck on authenticating.

All of a sudden the fan on my video card starts making a lot of noise and two cpu cores use about 30%. I've noticed this the past couple of days too but I usually get past the login and character screen quite fast. I'm wondering if this could cause problems in the long run, cause sometimes I go afk and get booted to the login screen and don't return for hours.

I'm using win7 x64 and got a radeon 4890 (and I didn't have anything running in the background).

I did find this : http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=19377460876&pageNo=1&sid=1

but it doesn't really offer a solution except for that vsynch stuff.

Well the login screen causes more lagg than dalaran, you can try turning your graphics to minimum and disabling your sound to see if that helps just to experiment.

also merging your WoW account into a battle.net account apparently gets rid of the authenticating steps during login, ive not done this myself though.

can't it be it that it is collecting some stuff about yorur computer, that your computer dislikes?

Not sure if that is over already or not :-)
