So James Cameron's new film is out in December and i've been following it for some time now. Alot of CG mixed with live action and viewed in 3D. He hasn't made a bad film yet (apart from Titanic but I guess alot of people like that as it's the highest grossing film ever) so i'm really pumped for this.

The trailer finally got released today and there are HD links in the link below.

Amaizing trailer. It will be for sure great action movie. But still to much CGI. And some scenes looks not realistic. More liek from computer game. Liek one scene with Sam W. Its just max what they can do for that day. For real realism movies industry need wait 10-20years.

From what I've heard, the trailer (although it looks awesome) doesn't do it justice. First reports from the Imax 3D previews that have been showing, say that it's out of this world and the bits that look a bit funky in the trailer look alot more realistic on the big screen and in 3D.

Also, the 3D in this film is used differently than the recent fad crap thats been released lately and doesn't use it in a gimmick type way ie stuff being thrown at the audience etc. It concentrates more on adding depth to the backgrounds.

That looks like one film I won't be Torrenting, have to be a cinema jobby.

yeah true that i heard that tho. Thats why i think beter to hold with final verdict when movie will be relased. Still its looks amaizing atm if you wath it on good monitor in 1080p.

Starcraft meets Warcraft?

Looks like a nice game setting to me, though I feel the movie will be utter shit.

Promotional toys for Avatar is pretty sexy..

IMAX opened in my town just in time (first film shown on it will be Avatar). Got my special preview tickets booked for the 16th!

Can't wait now.

03-12-2009, 09:14 PM
Saw the trailer a few weeks ago, it grabbed me :p

03-12-2009, 09:19 PM
Got 2 tickets reserverd for the 19th. Had to skip the 18th since I rather get best sitting places from the theatre than be on the first day on som side-sit.

Also, I've been trying to avoid anything that's from the picture. Watched the trailer tho, but the rest I'd rather spare for the cinema. Facebook has kept me pretty updated about Cameron and other stuff around it.

- James Cameron -fan since 12 years old (when I realized he's behind Terminator 1&2 and Aliens)

Easily the best cinema experience i've ever had (Imax 3D). It's awesome.

They say that the plot is shit but the effects are great, as expected. Please tell me that there's more to it than that.

So it wasn't like 10 minutes of 3D juicyness and the rest funky 2D CGI?

17-12-2009, 03:33 AM
It'll be like Jaws 4 then.

The story is fine and not as message driven as I was led to believe (the corporation is overly mean and evil I guess), no problems with the script (some reviews slated the script, sure there are a few cheesy lines but overall it's was good)and it's well paced. It's an all round amazing film but if you can, see it in 3D because it's fucking mind blowing.

Oh definately not, the 3D is consistantly good, for the first half hour you really notice it but after that you take it for granted and get immersed. I've just never seen anything like it.

Forget whatever 3D film you've seen before or any notions about 3D you have, this is on another level.

deffinetly worth watching.!

I havent seen Avatar but Stumpet/Valier saw it in Bergen this weekend and according to hos facebook profile "Og Avatar var kul som bare fy flate" = it was cool as hell.

i think i will like it

21-12-2009, 05:52 AM
It was indeed and awsome film :)

21-12-2009, 07:46 AM
If you get an opportunity to do so, I recommend watching it in RealD, rather than Imax3D.

Also, this movie left me with a burning urge to roll a female draenei hunter.

21-12-2009, 08:10 AM
I did see it with those 3d glasses or what its called and it was GREAT :)

Off a cliff?

Forget the flimsy 3D you've seen in other movies... This is the real stuff. What a movie.

25-12-2009, 08:18 PM
This film was amaizing, Avatar was still created using Polarized 3D technology which isnt even the latest, and it was still mind blowing, though the future of 3D is autostereoscopic which is being able to view 3D without the need of glasses, this movie was amaizing!

05-01-2010, 01:13 AM
Well... Looked pretty but there was nothing beneath the surface. Nevertheless, having movies like this is a major thing for the movie industry and good news for me as well since some day I'll get to enjoy a movie that has lots of 3D eye candy and some actual content in it as well.

05-01-2010, 09:34 AM
Yea, it's yet another light version of "who I am and what is real" story. Good one, but not deep like books/movies from Philip K. Dick or Mamoru Oshii.
And it has some tasty little bonuses. Dropships and guard towers from Aliens. This one too:

PS. Your pic is not working, Uber.

Yes, it's pretty shallow and predictable but so is a rollercoaster and I love rollercoasters. So in short: I loved it. Found out Neytiri is motioncapped from that hot actress who played Uhura in the new (and improved) Star Trek. Bonus!

Saw it both in 2D and 3D unfortunately not IMAX 3D because the only IMAX theathre in Stockholm shows documentaries about dinosaurs or dolphins or penguins. Gah!

A-ha! That's the picture I was trying to link a week back. (And now I noticed why it failed ._.)

It was f***ing AMAZING! viewed in 3D. the best 10.50 euros I ever spent

19-01-2010, 12:15 PM
I've seen it last saturday in IMAX 3D, costed me €15, but was definitely worth it!
