Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Legendary Pictures announced today that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the eagerly-anticipated major motion picture based on Blizzard Entertainment®’s award-winning Warcraft® universe. Raimi has, in the course of his career, clearly demonstrated a genius for developing and adapting existing fictional universes for mainstream audiences while staying true to the spirit of the original content.
Raimi directed the Spider-Man trilogy, which has broken box-office records around the world and garnered five Academy Award® nominations. Known for his imaginative filmmaking style, richly drawn characters and offbeat humor, Raimi wrote and directed the cult classic, The Evil Dead and produced 30 Days Of Night. He most recently wrote and directed the supernatural thriller, Drag Me To Hell.

which war?
anchients, 1st, 2nd or scourge?

*Hopes for Anchients*

I do hope they don't focus on one faction being the good guys and one being the bad; because we all know who the bad will be. I won't be there at opening night at the cinema, I haven't washed my murloc suit after last time.

It's Warcraft, not WoW.

I think its almost a given that the Horde will be the bad guys.

Orcs, Trolls, Undead? Its simply not possible to appeal to anyone outside of WoW players having them as anything but evil.

Accept that it will be a LOTR clone :)

It has some chances - Uwe Boll and Paul Anderson aren't involved.

Story about Thrall would be pretty cool.

Or story of some known individuals grandpa that takes place in first war when orcs came?

Anyway, it's a _must_see_film_ ;)

They did talk about it at blizzcon at some point tho.

They had already made up their minds that it would be seen from Alliance perspective, telling a story that happened after Warcraft 3 TfT, and before WoW.
Wether this has changed or not, i have no idea.

And i also hope that The Horde wont be marked as the bad guys, but since WoW started out as a war between the factions (wich i didnt fully expect after warcraft 3), Blizzard will easily be able to crush that hope.

Anyone had a look at the comments on wow-champ?

Some classics,

Quentin Taratino would be full of fails, seriously the most overrated director in HISTORY, my friends begged me to watch Pulp Fiction and half way through the movie I still didnt know what the fuck it was about.

War of the Ancients would rock! It's epic enough tbh. With all the lore it's got going, it could turn into a LotR type movie.
