So I've finally got a reason to spec out of this godawful Mutilate spec. Trying to burst a fellow rogue in a stunlock or just CS being a viable tactic was never fun.

SO! Combat. I'm thinking of two specs (clicky) :

0/30/41 CQC (http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?rogue=0250302152205010020000000000000000000000000 0000000000005300232120302120050135001000&glyph=041519020105) - glyphs = Blade Flurry, Sinister Strike, Preparation

Thinking of how to incorporate Imp SnD into this one, as 40% speed buff would be pretty big ... or would it be worth dropping Riposte? According to my calculations, it would deal around 1600-1650 damage with Kel'thuzad's Reach, which is pretty insane for only 10 energy, and a mitigation debuff.

0/46/25 CQC (http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?rogue=0252022052205010023122501200000000000000000 0000000000005300232101302120000000000000&glyph=191501020605) - glyphs = Sinister Strike, Preparation, Adrenaline Rush

Less fun and creative, but getting back DT interrupt and completely dominating rogues with undodgeable Kidney and 30% less damage during stuns. Also an overall more offensive build, if less mobility. (the point in Setup is to be ignored and assigned wherever else)

CQC will probably fall in favor to maces come 3.1.0, but at the moment it seems the best due to itemization.

Thoughts?

I'd say, for pvp, only the second one is really viable. You need nerves of steel if you're speccing deep combat for pvp. And if you're going deep sub, you should get puncturing wounds for daggers or hemo if not. I guess can go deep sub with sinister strike for combat/sub build. But sinister's never really worked for me as a main attack unless deep combat.

But overall, I'd say mut/sub is still the best pvp spec for rogues atm even with the latest changes.

For combat, the build I come up with after sitting down with the talent calc:

Again though, I'd probably stay mut/sub.

But if I were to try combat, it'd be with the build above or very similar (it's ofcourse assuming swords, swap the specialisation points into the mace talent if you prefer).

You're skipping 10% SS damage and free undispellable slow (Blade Twisting) and Opportunity is pretty pointless

Regardless, I tried my Deep Combat spec; here's the Recount on SS before I quit bashing my head against a wall (2 ABs).

Realistically, I was getting 1.9k-2.2k SS crits on cloth.

It's back to Mutilate, I guess.

EDIT - oh, I checked the stats on most of the hunters Recount tracked. Their Explosive Shot ticked for more than my SS.

Aye, opportunity is pointless with combat. I auto-replicated my mut sub tree without thinking on it.

Losing 10% SS dmg is fine imho for the rest of stuff (ie. I'd rather have throwing specialisation than that 10% dmg). The slow on blade twisting was always and is still crappy imho :) Is also possible to move the two points from savage combat into there if it's really what you want.

But yeah, would still spec mut/sub. Kinda hoping 3.1 has better stuff for everyone concerned about some semblance of balance.
