As the only European team that went to the MLG tournament in San Diego this weekend. Nihilum reached the finals and finally lost to the Warrior + Rogue + Druid team of Frag Dominant (from the US).

They actually beat Frag Dominant and knocked them into the losers bracket, but Frag Dominant won the losers bracket and met Nihilum in the finals.

The Nihilum team featured the relatively famous Hunter Cherez, Druid Beasteh and priest Hydra (of recent imba movie fame). Tbh, coming second in the first tournament they went too is fairly impressive. Though I must admit, cherez's dwarf huntard was ugleh :s

Dunno if anyone's the least bit interested, but posting just in case. Some nice games in there (yea, I'm sad and actually watched some of them live over teh net).

Well, most of teams didnt take part in the competition, like I didnt see anyone from fairly best arena-pvp guild 'ZOMBIES' taking part in tournament.

Yeah, it was an invitational :s And no-one else got "invited" afaik.

I'm not saying this makes them great or anything, just an "Of interest" thing cause they're from Europe (and even, from our home Cyclone battlegroup).

No Nihilum (the PvE guild) didn't move. But their arena team PvP offshoot is on Stormscale (Alliance).

Yeh. Nihilum played very well through out, Just had problems finishing off Frag Doms druid in the final, I have to say there druid, Spou or something couldn't of played any better in the final he won it for Frag dom Imo. Probably one of the best played druids iv'e seen.

I watched all the games yesterday, was pretty cool. The commentary was a lot better than I thought it would be, only thing missing really was the ability for them to show replays.

Agree with this BUT I have to say If i ran a double healer/hunter team i'd expect teams to pull out the doublemelee.

Frag Dom had been playing RWD earlier in the competition and Nihilum knew they were capable, if they'd done a Pandemic and brought more team setups to the tournament they could have prevented it. Although yes I agree, they were at a disadvantage.

Also agree with Soul, Spoh played absolutely brilliantly in the last few matches and Frag Dom really did deserve the win.

We were laughing at the "ZYZ JUST POPPED CLOAK OF SKILL"

But yeh, great guys, and I admire how they kept everything pretty basic for the non-arena or non-WoW players watching.

Except, you know, how they thought Beasteh played a shaman, how they pronounced Nihilum entirely wrong, and how they thought Cherez died when he used Feign with around 70% health.

how they pronounced Nihilum entirely wrong
I've found just about everyone pronounces my character names wrong :(

When I raided with my horde mage, Nascent, the guild leader used to pronounce the name like "Nas-cant" when it's more like "Nay-sent". And my rogue "Imure" some people say "eye-more" when it's "im-ure" like hymn (without the 'h'). God forbid if I ever hear anyone pronounce "Ailith" (it's "eye-lith").

Annoys me so much!! /shakes fist at the universe

Yea, commentators did a good job. And no, I dont know where to dload any of it :( want to see some of the games i missed

Because footage was hours long and because of the difficulty of the recordings, this video will mainly just show the event, and 6 of frag dominant's main fights.

Best I could find.

Thanks for that link too, shows some pretty nice games.

If you didn't happen to see the live tourney then i strongly recommend you watch the last game on the above link. It shows why Nihilum truly fucking deserved to get as high as they did, absolutely pristine timing on the offensive cyclone, and then an awesome burst from Cherez with TBW to down the druid.

Is it the one where Hydraa gets a fear in and they cyclone Spoh then ... "Boom"? (At work atm, so can't watch till lunch time :(). Yea, that was pretty awesome CC\nuke. Game was just trundling along then "poof" Spoh got gibbed. Remember the commentators getting fairly excited as the cyclone landed...

They're putting some games up for viewing, currently some of the earlier games. But looks like they're updating it as time goes along so expect them all eventually i guess.

Hats off to them for not changing their setup

The saddest part is how they lost - their opponents rolled an easy mode combo, literally brain dead setup of 2 melees and just gang banged Cherez the whole game while their druid is loljumpingfrombridgealldaylong.

I see nothing sad about them winning by thinking smart.

Personally i'd call it more gay than Smart.

But oh well, just my opinion.

Having said all that:

there is no way in hell I could ever do that well, regardless if i was playing turtle team or FOTM

Aaaah right so you would rather go play a combo that you knew would fail instead of playing a combo that would win?

Sure thinking like that works fine for the normal arena and when playing for fun and with friends, but this is for more then just fun and a friendly game.

Having said that I still find it kinda gay that Nihilum had to go outside the guild and recruit Ally players to have a decent Arena team.

I don't usually resort to this and I apologise for my rudeness, but if you can't see a difference between an "EFFECTIVE" combo and an "EASY" combo then you need to get a clue.
