I'm looking to purchase a new headset, so if anyone can recommend one or somewhere that have some good independent reviews it'll be greatly appreciated.

I was looking at these (http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/audio/5hv2-usb/information)

These! Steelseries Siberia Icemat or something. :P
I have them, and my only complaint is that they're pretty big. The sound is great, though. :P

I have those. They are pretty cool, but take the version without usb soundcard as it will be cheaper and this soundcard is just shit.

I didn't think they are really comfortable. The headset is pretty heave and isn't supported by your head(since it's a backphone). So after a couple of hours it starts to hurt. Don't worry tho, this is only when you're not used to it. When you get used to it you can play a bit longer. Mine broke after 8months or something.

sennheiser and zalman are prolly the best when it comes to headsets if you ask me.

Hmm, my old pair broke not so long ago and I decided to try something new, I picked up the white variant of the ones kenny posted, Steelseries Icemat Siberia. A quality headset, comfortable, the mic is a clip-on which can be handy yet annoying at the same time (getting up and walking away with it on, or having to get it in the right position on your clothes for the sound to be good).

They seem pretty durable with the amount of times I've raged and threw them off.

Cheap pricewise or cheap as in a bit of knockoff tat?
They're pretty decent IMO, even if they do fuck my ears up.

Knockoff tat, sorta. They're 30(?) or so, at least they where last time I looked for headsets, having tried them (a friend bought them) I just think at that price you might as well spend an extra 10 for an all over better headset, they ear pieces to me are too small, and they sit very tightly over your head to the point its uncomfortable :C

Don't be such a Pussy BECAUSE WEARING A TIGHT HEADSET MAKES YOU A MAN. FACT.

Fact of the matter is, they should be comfortable. Spend an extra 10 and get decent headset.

After becoming frustrated with the fragility of Creative and Logitech headsets I purchased the Plantronics .AUDIO 510 in December for 40, and it has been one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. The headset has very comfortable padding, I routinely wear the headset for hours and hours on end without any discomfort. The speakers are large enough (40mm) to give a decent bass.
Really, the only possible downside to this headset is the fact that it's USB, but the soundcard in the speakers was actually better than the one in my laptop.
