View Full Version : FTP Client

At the moment I'm using Smart FTP to upload to my personal web space. It does its job but I'm finding it increasinly annoying when it wants a new update. It won't let me use the old version, which works fine, and just keeps showing me the 'download the newer version plox' screen. If I try and bypass that it just closes the program.
Any recommendations on a free FTP Client?

Have been using filezilla for all my windows based ftp escapades.
(You want the client, not server download).

Not that its free nor does it not come with updates (you can ignore them tho), but Im such a oldschool pirate that I recommend FlashFXP over anything :D
It's prolly a bit overkill for your needs, but anyone who needs to transfer stuff from ftp to ftp is prolly using it (well atleast in my good ol' 'fxp group' days ppl all did)...

WinSCP, you shouldn't be transferring anything nowadays over FTP anyway.

Yea, WinSCP is a lot better if You are using anything more secure than simple FTP (everything, sftp, scp), altho afaik FlashFXP should be able to use that protocols too (not sure about scp).
For simple FTP use FlashFXP or maybe client from Total Commander if You happen to using one.

window's built-in ftp is the shittiest ever, not to mention it lacks the resume option

i only use it to upload pages and pictures to the guild website :P

I'll give WinSCP a run - I'm like Arthran, it's only for small piccies to my webpage so nout posh is needed, just one that doesn't keep demanding to be updated and refusing to load until it is.
Thanks again guys.
