At least we can now admit there is a problem with the English game. If we had gotten through we would only be kidding ourselves that we were actually good enough on getting through

Sack the manager,
Pick players on merit rather than reputation,
Start bringing through some youth players occasionally
When Rooney and Owen aren't fit then it's the time to actually try Defoe/Bent etc not just play 1 striker because you don't trust the other players
Maybe introduce a quota of English players per team (controversial I know), but the depth of the English team is lacking, and Liverpool, Arsenal are prime suspects there. There just aren't enough English players playing at a high level in England. The pool of players isn't there. Our third choice international left back plays for Reading, a team 2 seasons ago were in the Championship.

Things need a shake up. We've been shit for years and it was glossed over because we qualified. But we were awful in last years World Cup too.

Wasn't our goalies game last night, his first ever England International?

That's a lot of pressure to put on his shoulders in such a crucial game.

No it was his 1st ever competitive international. And as a goalkeeper I can sympathise. Those conditions were awful. But yes he should've got his body behind the ball. He made up for it with saves in the 2nd half.

The fact that Robinson didn't even make the bench amazed me, he must have really been shit in training.

Housemate kept banging on about "why is Lescott there?" I pointed out to him, there isn't another centre back available. They're all injured or internationally retired. Then you see again the complete lack of depth we have in this country if the 1st 16 choice players are injured.

I'm guessing going into Manchester in the Croatian football top my ex bought me is not a good idea, even if the top is 5 years old...

Tis a Bolton Wanderers top actually, but it's just a crazy going into Manchester wearing it.

Sad to see a soccer EC without England tbh..
And behold.. this is coming from a german :P

I'd rather leave Italy at home those nutters
England at least tries to actually 'play'

Oh and Oogieboogie.. actually the only reasonable sentence i can find in that article you linked is
"I see no reason to believe that the quality of goalkeepers is declining," said Köpke.
