View Full Version : Changing My Talents

04-09-2007, 09:28 AM
Hi guys and girls!

http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/hunter/talents.html?0000000000000000000000505051005013253 135132302002301000000000000

this is my talent spec, but i must say i'd still like the concussive shot to stun the mobs i fight and eventually the hunter's mark to affect ppl in group's AP to...

now my question is, how can i get these without having my trap resisting and duration etc. lower so i am still a trap master but also have concussive stun...

what talent can i lower the points with or can i just turn off that i don't need?

I'm no hunter but id suggest either taking a point out of ranged spec or combat expertise.

Depends what the build is for ... pvp, pve, grinding, small party ?
Concussive shot isn't really a good shot unless you intend to kite things which suggest solo pve or pvp.
For pve you could drop improved arcane shot since your weapon speed of 2.68 is a bit too slow for a 5sec rotation anyway.
For pvp you could trade efficiency for the concussive shot you want.

PS: Imo trade combat experience for GftT or Rapid Killing.

ah didnt read you wanted to switch to stun too, yea either arcane shot or effeciency i agree on

That post is taking the piss and keeps changing my text to yellow, so. The first one id go with if unless you really want imp concussive, in which case grab the second build.

From my experience Trap Mastery is le suck. You will have just about same amount of resists (yes yes they say 5% less but it does not seem any different). Clever traps is very useful though.

I would suggest this build for your needs if you want the Trap Mastery:
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/hunter/talents.html?0000000000000000000001505201205013253 135133301022011000000000000

My current build is this:

Under heavy consideration is:

Much depends on what you want to do, as Jimothy said, I'll post my speccs :

PvE : Although I don't raid ( or very rarely ) BM is N1:

PvP: I've tried both BM and MM in pvp, and for me MM gets the upper hand, I really love this spec :

About trap resistance.

When I did a lot of heroics and I had 1 point in trap mastery, resisting traps were VERY rare. When there was another hunter in the group and we both were freezing trapping, it happened often that the other hunter's trap resisted and mine didn't.

So 1 point in trap mastery in my opinion is a point very well used if you do a lot of heroics. More useful than clever traps since clever traps won't save you if the trap resists. And you can work around not having clever traps by trapping cleverly (hah). When your group isn't decked in epics, the one resisting freezing trap every once in a while might very well mean a wipe. That said, you probably should still take clever traps also if you do many heroics.

I'm paranoid anyway so I've always had both Clever Traps and Trap Mastery at 2 points as both Marksman and now Survival after initial testing in heroic Coilfang Reservoir.
On the pro side you end up with tanks relying upon traps more than sheeps or (on undead) shackles and having to be reminded to "want to kill that traped mob before or after the next pull?".
