Right, so I need a Dutchie type person to give me directions.

I'm flying in to Amsterdam airport, and I need to get to Haarlem. How might one go about it?

Do you ever stop travelling? :P

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=amsterdam+schiphol&daddr=haarlem&sll=52.313726,4.760857&sspn=0.179663,0.429153&ie=UTF8&z=13&om=1

According to google it's 18 minutes away.

Not knowing about/using google maps for such questions is rather epic fail.

Google maps doesn't work for Ireland so I'm not used to using it.

(well, it has cities, but not road or town names)

From Schiphol take the train to Amsterdam Sloterdijk, get out, walk to the lower platforms (nr 7 i think) and take the train to Haarlem.

Or take the interliner bus that goes from Schiphol to Haarlem

Takes about 20 to 30 mins depending on where you want to get out in Haarlem

Ask Tulip Jimmy with the Clogs at the abandoned windmill for directions. Never fails.

Hmm does he have a website?

If Haarlem is only 20 minutes away from the Airport, is it better to just get a taxi rather than train(s)?

Hmm, actually, who's from Amsterdam here on SSE? And who wants to show me around on Thursday evening when I've nothing to do? :P

Prostitution is defined as a legal profession; prostitutes have access to the social security system, may join unions, have to pay income tax and are treated like any other self-employed tradesperson.

But anyway, not actually going now, turns out its cheaper to pay someone over there to do the work I need rather than me to get flights+accomodation.

"Pupulist", ol' boy? I'm merely stating my opinion after years and years of waiting-for-the-damn-train experience.

Also, yes, whores.

Héhé, Welcome to the life of business travels!
My personal record on a cancelation is 1.5 hours in advance, when already at the airport!

Oh and Trains in holland are teh suck. I can't recall which major cities it were, but the train route had a L shape instead of \ (took me 2.5 hours or so). Some dutchie said to me that well you just dont have many trainroutes and that they dont connect all cities to eachother directly. (I believe it was Breda-Rotterdam, not sure though)

And Stop slacking with that Thalys Line ffs! Our is already ready for Ages! I want a fast connection. Not a darn 3.5 hour ride from A'pen to A'dam.
