I wondered how you talented mages would spec, to be the best grinders :)

I love to AoE grindin', even though its not very efficient, so the frost-tree should be the main one.

Ive come up with this so far:

When you Say AoE grinding I'm thinking Gharrons Withering or furbolg bashing. What I always loved most was cone of cold and IAE because they do the most dmg in the least amount of time.

With this build you'll have more armor, better mana-regen and good crits. I've seen the blizzardAoE but I never liked that personally. CoC+IAE ftw imho.

I'd make it like this:

edit:
You could also do 2/5 Focus and 2/2 Magic attunement instead of 4/5 Focus

The thing with iae is it means you can get hit, good use of blizzard and CoC allows you to kill such a quantity of mobs in one go its silly, the real challenge is how to gather that many up in the first place :P

Yeah, though ice barrier + mount usually works pretty well (to a certain point at least).

Indeed, and with full talented Blizzard (including permafrost aswell) you will cause the mobs to move at 15% of their normal speed, which needless to say, is very slow. Add frostbite to that then it will take a long time before they reach you. And by then you'r frost nova is up and you can just rince and repeat until they are dead.

Unless you're pulling 10 mobs and 2 of them freeze right away, 1 more freezes halfway and 2 more freezes close to you. Then you have mobs spread all over the place making it hard to get them all inside you AoE circle.

And if you have one or more ranged ones then you win the jackpot. Your blizzard will get interrupted draining your mana like you never had any.

The big advantage over IAE (which comes down to round up in a small circle, frostnova, cone of cold and a few IAE's) is that you have everyone in a small area close to you. If you do it properly still less than half the mobs will even hit you once. rangers, runners and frostbite procs wont matter since the area you fight them in is so small. Personally I'd prefer to take some dmg and keep the AoE close over long distance AoE with procs having a big influence.
No subtlety and no skilled pulling, just run and nuke away :)

Solo AoE'ing with blizzard having frostbite sucks, still doable though. A frostnova followed by a flamestrike and CoC is quite effective with the new patch, follow that with some AE. If you keep the mobs bunched up, you can keep them permachilled with CoC.
